These days Minecraft projects seem to be getting bigger and bigger. There’s even different kinds of people building in Minecraft. Remember Denmark and the Ordnance Survey maps? Now a new set of people are looking at rebuilding their real building in Minecraft: the British Museum.

The British Museum in London is the most visited place in the UK, so the people building it have got to get it perfect. It’s being built as part of a new idea to get more young people interested in the Museum, called Museum of the Future. And there’s nothing that young people love more than Minecraft, so it all makes sense.

But where will the builders come from? Well, people like you! The British Museum’s public engagement team went straight to the Minecraft Reddit to start recruiting an army of builders.

The Minecraft model will be built from the blueprints and plans of the actual museum itself. This is the first time anything like this has been done, so it’s quite a big occasion. Most of the build will be done in the spare time of the builders, but the front of the museum needs to be finished before October 16th, when the Museum will show it off in the Changing Public Dialogues debate. After that it’s onto the more complicated sections, such as the Great Court’s Ceiling.
