Imagine building a Lego model of something that really worked, and wasn’t just a model. That’s what Jason Allemann did, and his Lego computer keyboard is an amazing build that works exactly like a normal keyboard does. You can even watch him use it in this video, where he types with it no problem at all.
Other than the sensor board underneath all the keys, and the cable, the whole board is made from Lego pieces. The button pressing grid is made of Lego Technic, which let Jason get all the key positions right and make the keys go up and down. The buttons themselves are all tile pieces from Lego kits. Because there are lots of unique keys on a keyboard, Jason had to get a bit creative when choosing tiles to use. This means some of the keys are really clever, like using a baseball cap for the Caps Lock button, or a control panel for the CTRL button.
Is this the smartest Lego build you’ve ever seen, or have you found something better? Let us know in the comments.
