An amazing bumper crop of Mario Kart 8 information has landed, and the biggest tid-bit of them all is the release date. You’ll be playing Mario Kart 8 on Wii U from May 30th. Alongside that information we have amazing new screenshots, and some cool new details on weapons and tracks. But first, check out the new trailer.
In the trailer you can see some of the features we already knew about, like hangliders and anti-gravity karts. But you may also notice a cool boomerang being thrown around, which is a new weapon for Mario Kart. That’s not all that’s new either; you can see that the classic Rainbow Road track has had an amazing makeover, and now looks super awesome in crisp HD graphics.
Underwater sections are back, which haven’t been seen since Mario Kart 7. At the opposite end of under the water is up in the sky, and this is thanks to anti-gravity sections. When you see blue markers on the track this means you can turn off the gravity and race up walls or even upside down! And if you crash into someone in anti-gravity sections, you’ll gain a cool Spin Turbo move for added excitement.
The Mario Kart 8 release date is May 30th, exclusive to Wii U. It’s one of the games we’re most looking forward to this year. Check out what else we’re excited for in The 10 Best Upcoming Games of 2014.
