This is pretty awesome: a machine made of LEGO that can play music! This huge, weird machine plays notes that have been recorded from drums and synthesizer keyboards and strings them together to make music. Check it out in this video.
The machine is called Play House, and is really complicated. It was made for AudioGraft; an experimental music festival where people make music with all kinds of unusual instruments. The notes it plays are samples from drum kits and a Roland TB303 synthesizer, which is a keyboard that makes very electronic-sounding notes.
Play House was built by Alex Allmont, who has a PhD in music. His original plan for Play House was much more complicated; that machine actually played a real drum! You can see a design for that in this picture above, which shows part of the machine playing a cymbal.
